Madhukar has had his hardships. But he emerged from all the struggles and built a successful IT company.

Madhukar S Dubey is the Founder and Managing Director of Fusion Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd., an IT & ITES company based in Udaipur. Fusion provides BPO services to clients from the USA, UK, and Australia. It also provides technological support by developing mobile and web apps and digital platforms for startups and established companies.

As his mother was in a job, posted in remote rural areas, he was initially raised by his maternal grandmother and mausis. Later, his mother left her job to look after her children, and he went to Jaipur to live with his parents. His school days were spent in Jaipur, Jamnagar and Mumbai. As he studied in Kendriya Vidyalayas, which were situated in army areas, he grew up watching army and airforce jawans, which was very inspiring to him.

Madhukar says his parents raised him, teaching him honesty and transparency. They gave him freedom and didn't stop him from doing anything. This gave him the confidence to make his own decisions in life. He says that as he comes from a humble background, he has learned to respect people and also the value of money. Even when he gives something to a beggar, he says thank you for the opportunity because God has made him capable of giving.

He remembers the time when he had no money, but he had zeal and determination. He thinks it is important to go through hard and bad times in life because that teaches us to respect the importance of things and to respect all kinds of people.

When asked about his childhood, he says he was a mischievous and funny child. But being fun-loving helped him make many friends. When he was in class 11, his mother took him to an astrologer who said he would become a businessman. That stuck in his mind, and he was determined to do business in life.

In the early stage of his career, he had a job in a company. But, he left the job and was idle for some time. As the BPO business gained ground in the year 2000, he and his friends pooled some money and decided to start an outsourcing company in Udaipur named Cluster Software. But, after two to three months, his friends quit, leaving him in debt. He suffered losses.

In 2005, he and his brother decided to close everything and start afresh with a clean slate. They thought of a new name; thus, Fusion Outsourcing was born. Fusion has been very successful since then and has had an incredible journey.

Madhukar warns that business is not easy. The struggles and hardships sometimes take their toll on your physical and emotional well-being. He remembers an incident when his bike ran out of fuel, and he did not have money to refuel it. He had walked home, pulling the bike and crying all the way. That day, he resolved that come what may, he will never let something like this happen again.

Madhukar says he once got a mere one lakh rupee loan under the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana. He had to make a lot of effort for it, which taught him how difficult it was to raise money for your business. Initially, his father had given him some money, but that was all lost. He thinks struggle teaches you not to fail.

Madhukar thinks God trains you through the struggles and hardships before giving you what you deserve. So, it would be best to respect what he has given you. Live a good life, but you must also give to others by providing jobs. He is very happy that more than 500 people work in his company and they love and respect him so much. He thinks that if everyone in the world would start hoarding money and not share it with others the world would become a bad palce.

He seems content that he has a happy immediate family, and that is success for him. He says that when people say that Madhukar is honest and transparent in his dealings, that is success for him.

According to him, the one big failure for him has been when his brother parted ways from him and separated. He regrets that he could not hold his extended family together. But the separation also made him realize where he was wrong. Due to his brother leaving, the company suffered. So, Madhukar developed several processes which were not dependent on any particular individual.

In his opinion, the most important skill set required for an IT company is honesty in dealings and honesty in accepting your mistakes. Talking about education, he says because he had a good education, he could start an IT company, and IT gave him money. He says he did not have money to start a factory, but his education paid off. He says he always remained honest with his small customers, who in turn recommended him to the big ones.

His role model is Ratan Tata, whom he admires very much. His only desire is to get photographed with Tata and put the photo up in his office. He says two books that have inspired him are M.S. Oberoi’s biography ‘Dare to Dream’ and the biography of JRD Tata ‘Beyond the Last Blue Mountain.’ He also likes Shah Rukh Khan, some of whose film dialogues inspire him.

If he is taken back into a time machine, he would still not want to change anything in his life. His life mantra is - ‘Let’s Do It.’
